Es troba ubicada a la pla\u00e7a de Baix indret on hi havia hagut el primer port fluvial, quedant avui a uns metres m\u00e9s elevada que el curs del riu Ebre.\u00a0L\u2019actual temple es contru\u00ed sobre l\u2019antica esgl\u00e9sia, datada ja des del segle XII, dedicada a Santa Maria i despr\u00e9s de ser destru\u00efda\u00a0durant la Primera Guerra Carlina.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9s un temple d\u2019una sola nau cobert amb volta de creueria i cap\u00e7ada a llevant per un absis de planta poligonal. Est\u00e0 decorada amb pilastres d\u2019estil d\u00f2ric i una cornisa renaixentista.\u00a0L\u2019any 1733 es va construir el cor, la magn\u00edfica capella neocl\u00e0ssica del sagrari i una fa\u00e7ana nova.
